Tyson Larson Officially Files for Nebraska State Legislature & Names Nicole Sedlacek as Campaign Treasurer

By Administrator, on Feb 28, 2010

O'NEILL - Today Tyson Larson officially filed his candidacy for the Nebraska State Legislature's 40th District with the Secretary of State. Larson who is challenging incumbent Merton Dierks said, "Though I have an immense amount of respect for Senator Dierks, I believe rural Nebraska needs young leaders with new ideas that are willing to step up and fight for our communities and ensure that rural Nebraska has a healthy future."

Larson also announced that the treasurer for his campaign would be Nicole Sedlacek. Sedlacek, also an O'Neill native, currently serves as the Holt County Economic Development Director, and began her career with the O'Neill radio station KBRX. Both Larson and Sedlacek are among the growing movement of younger generation involvement in the political process of Nebraska's 40th district. Larson said, "I am extremely pleased that Nicole has joined the campaign team. She is a leader in the Holt County community and has done a lot to ensure that our communities continue to grow and thrive. Together, and through hard work, I believe we can not only bring economic development to rural Nebraska, but also continue to bring out communities closer together."

Larson is a fiscal conservative and advocate for limited government. "The purpose of government is to give the people the tools they need to most efficiently address their own unique local problems. Government should not, as it too often does, impose its centralized, disconnected policies on people. One size does not fit all." Larson's campaign will focus on lowering property and income taxes for Nebraskan families and businesses, improving the state's educational system, increasing community involvement, and making Nebraska a center for renewable energy investment.

Larson concluded by saying, "The campaign has been taking great strides since we announced in December. We will not get complacent, however; it is still my goal to meet everyone in the 40th district and to show everyone how hard I want to work for them."
