Tyson Formally Announces His Intention to Run for Nebraska's 40th Legislative District
O’NEILL – Today Tyson Larson announced his candidacy for the Nebraska State Legislature’s 40th District saying, “The 40th district and Nebraska need new, young leaders that are willing to approach the State’s problems with innovative ‘common sense solutions’.”
Larson, from O’Neill, is a 5th generation and life-long Nebraskan. He graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. with degrees in Government, Theology, and Anthropology. He is currently the Head of Business Operations and Risk Management for Art Research Technologies, an art finance and consulting firm, and the Founder of The Rope Group, a company that does marketing and fundraising for small rodeo associations.
Larson began his career in politics working for Nebraska’s 1st District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry in Washington, D.C. Tyson quickly moved through the political ranks working for Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel and serving as the Campaign Coordinator for the current 3rd District Congressman Adrian Smith. “I learned a lot from the Nebraska political delegation,” Larson said, “but the most important thing that I learned was that if I want to represent everyone in the district, I have to go out and meet everyone in the district. Change is going to take community effort, and I want to show the community how hard I am willing to work for them.”
Larson is a fiscal conservative and advocate for limited government. “Government is merely a servant of the people. Its function is to obey the people, not impose its will upon them. I intend to follow this principle in office and represent the people of the 40th district and Nebraska in such a manner.” Larson’s campaign will focus on lowering property and income taxes for Nebraskan families and businesses, improving the state’s educational system, increasing community involvement, and making Nebraska a center for renewable energy investment.
“It is my goal to bring new enthusiasm to and a strong voice for the 40th District to Lincoln. Too many of our political leaders lose sight of those whom they represent. Once they get to Lincoln, many politicians just stick to the status quo instead of offering new concepts and ideas for the future of Nebraska,” said Larson.
Larson concluded by saying, “It is my intention to work hard and prove to the people of the 40th District that I can represent their interests in Lincoln while making our entire state better. This will take a community effort, and I hope to meet every person in the district along the way.”
